Nuevo Estadio Martínez Valero – design description

The renovation of Estadio Martínez Valero focuses on several key aspects:

  • the construction of a new, visually distinctive facade
  • the roofing of the main stand
  • the expansion of boxes and VIP areas
  • the refurbishment of interior spaces

The most visible change resulting from the renovation will be the new facade. The elevation will be formed by a special external frame, known as an exoskeleton, which will surround the stadium and conceal the exposed reinforced concrete structure of the stands. The exoskeleton will be set at a certain distance from the stadium’s main volume, creating an additional perimeter walkway.

The facade will be clad in perforated panels in white and green. The green elements are intended to reference the traditional green stripe (la franja) on the shirts of Elche CF players, which has become part of the club’s identity. At night, the facade will be able to be illuminated.

The existing reinforced concrete structure will also be refurbished and repainted green.

The plan also includes the construction of a roof over the upper part of the main stand, the expansion of VIP boxes and hospitality areas, as well as the renovation of the interiors. A reorganisation of the parking areas around the stadium is also planned. The stadium’s capacity is not expected to change significantly.

The renovation project for Elche CF’s stadium was prepared by the renowned IDOM architectural practice. The investment will be financed by the club with the support of funds from CVC Capital Partners, and its cost is estimated at €40 million.

Renovation works began in 2025, with completion planned ahead of the 2026/27 season and the 50th anniversary of the inauguration of Estadio Martínez Valero, which falls on 8 September 2026.
