Barnsley Women’s FC Stadium – design description
Replacing what used to be the Kingstone school playing fields, this new stadium is expected to make history in a way. If built, it will become the first in Britain created specifically for women's football. It would consist of the main stadium and up to 8 five-a-side pitches.
Its starting capacity is to stand at 2,500 people on a single grandstand, with two tiers and expansive roof. Additional sections might be created along the sunken main field, should demand warrant it.
Barnsley Women's FC, itself a subsidiary of Barnsley FC, is the company behind the project. The stadium would be financed using more sources, however, including private investors and avilable grants.
