What will the new Yozgat City Stadium be like?

The design of the new stadium in Yozgat, prepared by the MVM Mimarlık Mühendislik studio, involves the complete demolition of the existing municipal stadium and the construction of a completely new facility in its place from scratch. However, the new venue will largely resemble the shape of its predecessor, with a non-standard ('flattened' on the curves) athletics track, which will be surrounded by new stands to accommodate 15,000 spectators.

The running track will receive a new tartan surface and will have five tracks (six on the main straight). The pitch is also to be replaced. The single-tier stands of the stadium will be fully covered, with red and black (predominantly red) seats.

The stands along the pitch will be slightly higher than those on the curves. The main stand, with VIP boxes and facilities, will be located on the west side. The stands on the outside will be enclosed and paneled at the top. There will be four lighting masts at the corners of the stadium.

How is the construction of the new stadium in Yozgat progressing?

Work began with the demolition of the old stands, which was done in late 2020 and early 2021. In February 2021, the contract for the construction of the new stadium was signed and the consortium of Özsoy Akar İnşaat and Kural Yapı became the main contractor. Due to adverse weather conditions, the start of construction was put on hold until March. The value of the contract is 43.75 million Turkish lira. The construction is being funded by government funds. The new stadium was planned to open before the end of 2022.

The contractor stopped work during construction and the contract was terminated. The stadium remained unfinished and is waiting for the investment to be resumed.
