Novi stadion Karađorđe – design description

Karađorđe Stadium is the main sports venue in Novi Sad, the second-largest city in Serbia. In 2024, it marked the 100th anniversary of its opening. The stadium is home to FK Vojvodina.

For some time, a complete reconstruction of the stadium has been under discussion. The most recent proposal, presented in November 2023, primarily envisaged the modernization of the main stand as a first step toward a broader transformation into a football-specific stadium.

None of the previous projects were implemented. However, in August 2025, location conditions were issued for the construction of a new stadium, and in early 2026, the media published renderings of an entirely new design.

The new concept was prepared by the Novi Sad-based studio DBA Architects, the same firm responsible for the earlier vision. This time, the plan calls for the complete demolition of the existing structure and the construction of a modern football stadium in its place.

The new venue will accommodate 14,000 spectators and meet UEFA Category 4 requirements. The stadium will have a rectangular form and will be slightly taller on the Dimitrija Tucovića Street side, where the main stand will remain located. New parking facilities are planned around the stadium, including some underground spaces.
