Karşıyaka Stadı – design description

North of Izmir will see another new stadium, this time for Karşıyaka. It’s expected to replace the outdated athletic stadium, but without retaining the running track. Due to very limited width of the plot its eastern stand will be a very modest one.

Construction tender was launched in January 2014, while the entire structure should have been ready in 2015. Unfortunately, the project was on hold for a long time and demolition of old facilities began only in May 2015. By 2016, the foundations for the future football stadium had been laid, after which work was stopped. Construction is due to resume in 2022.
