ROSHN Stadium – design description
ROSHN Stadium will be built on the southern outskirts of Riyadh, with a design inspired by the urban fabric and architecture characteristic for central Saudi Arabia. The stadium will accommodate 46,000 spectators and is expected to be built between 2028 and 2032.
The standout feature of the facility will be the soaring segments, meant to resemble crystals, clustered around the stands. These “crystals” will give the venue an original, unique look and make the stadium a distinctive element of the neighborhood's skyline.
“Crystal” segments will provide shade for parts of the stands, and wide gaps between them will allow free air circulation. Stores, restaurants, offices, parking lots and green areas are to be built around the stadium.
The project came out of an initiative by the ROSHN Group, a development company established in 2020 by the Public Investment Fund. ROSHN in 2022 became the title sponsor of the Saudi Pro League.
The impetus for the project was that Saudi Arabia will host the 2034 World Cup – the facility is to be one of the venues for the tournament and is expected to host matches up to the Round of 32.
