Kyle Field – design description
The Project envisages Kyle Field’s re development over the course of Tyree seasons, throughout which local team Aggies are expected to continue and stage their games here without major loss in capacity. Eventually the number of seats should reach 102,500 with possible further expansion by 7,000. In short the plan has been divided in two phases:
- Phase 1 (from Nov 2013): demolition of east stand’s lower deck and its reconstruction in new configuration, beginning of south stand construction;
- Phase II (from Nov 2014): demolition of the entire west stand and its reconstruction, completion of the south stand.
The budget (estimated at $450 million, but ended with 485 million), should mostly be covered by own resources of Texas A&M (donations, student fees and most of all new seating reservations and ticket revenues), but a new hotel tax for the next 30 years is also planned to support the plan.
