Stadion Miejski Tychy – design description

Krakow-based Perbo-Projekt were the company behind initial concept of the new Tychy municipal stadium. Along their plan a simple bowl with single tier stands was to be covered with roof that would also continue downwards as façade cladding.

During works on final project capacity has been decreased from over 18,000 to 15,300 seats. Further changes were made to the administrative building and in one of the corners additional space was planned as potential corporate hospitality facilities.

First tender started in 2011, but was soon cancelled after formal errors were found. Second one started in Feb 2012 and was declared cancelled again, this time after the cheapest bid exceeding project budget more than twice. Cost-cutting amendments were again done to the stadium and third tender was launched in August 2012. After an appeal it ended in December with Mostostal Warszawa chosen as general contractor.
