Stadion Karađorđe – design description
What renovation works are planned for Karađorđe Stadium?
A concept for the modernization of Karađorđe Stadium in Novi Sad, created by local studio DBA Architects, was presented in November 2023. The vision focuses on the modernization of the main stand and aims to raise the standard of the stadium, the comfort of spectators and for the facility to meet UEFA Category 4 requirements.
Changes to the main stand will include the reconstruction of the seating layout, the creation of a media sector and club museum, as well as a new organization of the VIP area. New lodges and skyboxes will be created in the stand, and the hospitality area is to be the best in the country. The venue will also receive a new ticket control system.
What are the further plans for Karađorđe Stadium?
In Novi Sad, there are plans, on a much larger scale, to build a new, football-specific stadium (without an athletics track). The modernization project presented is only meant to be an intermediate step, suggesting that in the event of a future redevelopment of the facility, the main stand will be retained and become part of the new stadium.
When will the planned renovation work at Karađorđe Stadium be carried out?
The renovation concept was presented before the stadium's upcoming centenary, which falls on 28 June 28, 2024, and the modernization will probably take place this year. The planned works will not significantly change the capacity of the venue, which should remain at around 14,500 spectators. The cost of the works is estimated at 540 million Serbian dinars.
