Spain: Renovation of Estadio Martínez Valero is gathering pace before 50th anniversary The external renovation of Estadio Martínez Valero, carried out by Elche CF, is entering its second phase. At the same time, the city authorities of Elche are preparing the redevelopment of the entire neighbourhood in which the stadium is located.

New colours and new phase of works

The external appearance of Estadio Martínez Valero is changing significantly for the better. More than 27,000 spectators on average attend the club’s home matches this season, and over 28,000 people gathered to support the Spanish national team on its road to the 2026 World Cup. They are all witnessing the progress of the renovation works, which are already causing a radical change to the stadium’s exterior.

There are, however, certain aspects of everyday life that simply don’t need to change. One of them is entertainment — a world where waiting simply doesn’t fit. What really matters is speed, accessibility, and freedom of choice. That’s exactly why a platform like Videogamer explains offers the best payment methods and attractive welcome bonuses.

In the autumn of next year the stadium will celebrate its 50th year. By that time, the club plans to complete the most complex part of the investment – the installation of the exoskeleton and the roof above the stand. These elements are intended to be the most visible and to mark the culmination of the current modernization process.

Green façade as a symbol of change

Over the past few months, five thousand litres of green paint have already been used to give a new look not only to the façade, but also to external common areas – corridors, stairs, evacuation towers and doors. The repainting marks the end of the first phase of renovation, which began with the repair of countless concrete slabs.

Following this part, the second phase will involve the installation of an external skeleton that will cover the entire façade of the franjiverde stadium, and then a third phase in which Estadio Martínez Valero will gain a fully roofed stand.

50th anniversary with a new face

Although the club does not provide specific deadlines and remains cautious about the schedule, it reiterates its intention that in the 2026/27 season – coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the stadium’s construction – the facility will have the innovative external look previously presented.

Plans also include the creation of a new hospitality zone and VIP lounge in the Tribuna Preferencia section, complementing the one already existing in the main stand. The project also involves the construction of a shopping gallery. The total cost of the investment is approximately €40 million (excluding tax) and is financed from the club’s own funds and the LaLiga Impulso programme.

Modernisation of stadium surroundings

Currently, the renovation of the entire car-park fencing is coming to an end, combined with the installation of automatic gates. This is the next stage in the improvement of the infrastructure around the stadium, which is part of a wider modernisation plan led by the City Council of Elche.

Alongside the Valencian regional government, the franjiverde club and several private companies – including the firm Astonquer, responsible for the design of a recreational centre on the site of the former Anexo – the city is carrying out a comprehensive redevelopment of the avenues Manuel Martínez Valero and José Esquitino Sempere.

According to reports, the works have a budget of around €4 million and will take five months to complete. They will include the expansion of the aforementioned roads, which will certainly be appreciated by both residents and football fans from the city and province who regularly visit Estadio Martínez Valero.
