New Falcons Stadium (I) – design description
The concept is one of two visions that gave 360 Architecture the contract to design new Atlanta Falcons stadium in downtown Atlanta. The stadium is to hold some 65,000 people and cost $ 1 billion. However, final design may differ significantly from presented vision.
Just as the name suggests, this one has a lot to do with the sun. When closed, the stadium resembles a greenhouse with the amount of sun let inside through transparent and translucent elements of the cladding.
But when opened the stadium is really opened – not only does it include retractable roof segments, but the entire roof and facades are mobile, allowing to create a first ever almost completely open stadium from a dome.
Atlanta: Falcons decide on stadium location
The Atlanta Falcons have officially chosen the south site, at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr Drive and Northside Drive, as the final site for construction of the new stadium, according to Atlanta INtown.
Innovation: Pitch hidden under the... pitch
Can you protect the playing field's surface for non-sporting events without removing it from the stadium? 360 Architecture suggest it might be done. Will their idea be implemented in Atlanta?
Atlanta: Where will the new Falcons Stadium stand?
Associated Press has learned that Atlanta Falcons are considering building the new stadium in a different location than planned so far. The reason is not acquiring the entire required plot due to local church asking too much.
