Elysium City Stadium – design description

What is Elysium City intended to be?

At the end of 2018, the design of Elysium City, a futuristic smart city to be built about 150 km south-west of Madrid, on the García Sola reservoir, near the village of Castilblanco, was presented. The city is to be built in line with the latest sustainability trends and will be powered by a solar panel farm.

The project includes hotels, casinos, amusement parks, a high-speed train station, a university and a hospital, among others. The development covers an area of nearly 1,200 hectares and is expected to cost €18 billion. The American company Cora Alpha is behind the concept.

What will the stadium in Elysium City be like?

One element of the premise is to be a football stadium capable of holding 40,000 spectators. Following the publication of the first renderings, media attention was drawn to the logo of sub-Madrid club Getafe CF, which appeared on the graphics with the stadium, which the developer commented was a mistake.

The creation of a large football facility in the middle of a sparsely populated area can be questionable and raises concerns about the economic sense of the project. While the project seems interesting and ambitious, one should probably be cautious about whether it will actually be built as proposed and wait for more information related to it.
