Stadion Widzewa – design description
Ahead of the complete re development of Widzew Łódź’s stadium, the single-tiered seating bowl will allow for 18,008 people to get inside the stadium, while also providing for easy expansion.
Very simple in terms of structure, the stadium will have a distinctive main western stand. There the architectural concrete and glass will be combined with brick cladding, loosely associated with the city’s industrial heritage. Aside of the main stand, all other parts of the stadium will be covered only with decorative mesh in a cost-cutting attempt.
The impressive side will house nearly all necessary infrastructure on four floors. Facilities for players, club offices, hospitality (including 24 skyboxes) and media zones will all be located here. Additionally, the southern stand (for most dedicated fans) will have ground floor commercial spaces for lease.
Demolition of the old stadium is to start in December 2014, after which delivery of the new ground should take roughly 2 years.
New stadium: Grand (re)opening for Widzew
Today is the day that will go in history. Not just the history of 107-year-old Widzew, but that of Polish football as well. The new stadium in Łódź is ready for tonight’s opening game.
Poland: Widzew celebrates 10,000 season tickets sold
Doesn’t sound too impressive? It’s a 4th league club that’s just getting back on its feet after having collapsed. And they’ve set high prices, too!
Poland: Second stadium in Łódź ready for handover
Even if a couple months late, it’s still built rather timely when compared to many other stadia of its size. The 18,000-capacity stadium in Łódź will open in March for its first league game.
Poland: Record-breaking season ticket sale in 4th league
They’re three months away from their first game in 2017 and already now Widzew Łódź broke their all-time high and are among Poland’s most magnetic clubs. 5,500 season tickets passed and growing.

One of Poland’s most successful and popular clubs is getting a new stadium and from today onwards we’ll be there to present the progress to you. Meanwhile Widzew seeks an alternative relocation venue.
Poland: Not entirely worthy farewell in Lodz
One of Poland’s most popular clubs said goodbye to their old stadium today, following 84 years of service. But it was hardly an actual celebration of the old stadium, spoiled by players and some fans.
New design: New stadium for Widzew presented
One of Poland’s most famous clubs finally has the new stadium unveiled. Very cost-effective, but also much larger than the club’s current needs. Delivery is planned in just over 2 years from now.
