Yeni Adana Stadyumu – design description
New 33,000-capacity stadium for southern city of Adana is to be built almost outside the city, 10km north from the centre. Currently this suburb is almost deserted and lacks proper transport links, but this issue is to be addressed.
Though football-specific, this ground will have roof of circular shape, spanning outside significantly beyond the stands. To add further dynamism to the structure, external cladding is to resemble a mesh with numerous perforations.
New stadium: Adana stadium completed after seven years
Construction works began in 2014 and were to last approximately two years. Unfortunately, this did not happen and only now, after almost five years of delay, the stadium is opened for two second-tier teams.
Turkey: First matches at the new Adana stadium next season
Everything indicates that the official opening of the stadium in Adana will not take place until next year. It will be over five years from the initially planned completion date of the facility. The 33,000-seater will be the new home for Adana Demirspor and Adanaspor.
Turkey: Adana stadium in green but likely late once more
The hybrid playing field is finally arriving in Adana's new football stadium, meaning we're in the final stage of the 6-year telenovela. But it's still unlikely to de done before the 2020/21 season begins.
Turkey: Fiery seats in Adana
Though Turkey is among countries brought to a standstill, installation of seats is going forward. Their layout will be unique, seeing red flames created on white background.
Turkey: The curious case of Adana stadium
It was supposed to open in 2016. Then in 2017, then 2018. OK, but early 2019 just had to be the date, right? Nope, as of now the new stadium won't open until early to mid-2020, despite having been physically ready for months. And we just don't know why...
