Description: Phoenix Stadium
The plan envisages erecting the stadium in Cité Soleil, slum district of Port-au-Prince that is recognised as one of the most inhumane places to live in. Simple stands to hold 12,000 people will be built on rubble and planned to be affordable even for very poor locals.
Infrastructure is to include a park and extensive football school with dormitories for children that are hoped to chose football over violence.
New design: Stadium for hope
When Mother Teresa came here, she described this place as the worst case of poverty she has ever seen. One of the most terrifying slums in the world is hoped to receive a football stadium to change its image. Not for foreign observers, but for those, who have nowhere else to go.
