Estadi Johan Cruyff – design description

FC Barcelona’s reserve stadium will be built in Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, the club’s training complex in western Sant Joan Despí district. Architectural competition was won by local architects of Batlle i Roig Arquitectes.

The appearance and size of the stadium is strictly dependent on plot size. The southernmost field of Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper will be enclosed with stands able to hold 6,000 people, providing full cover and floodlights. Only the main grandstand will be double-tiered, remaining sections will offer several rows.

This size is also one that should satisfy demand for B team’s games more properly than current Mini Estadi. The existing stadium needs to be torn down and make way for Barcelona’s new indoor arena. Thus the relocation far from Camp Nou was agreed upon.

In March 2017 it was announced that the stadium will be named after Johan Cruyff.
