Rock Stadium – design description

The concept is based on incorporating a football ground into one side of the Jabel Hafeet mountain, in southern UAE. Future venue for Al Ain's football club is to have one massive, single tiered stand supported on the slope of Jabel Hafeet and three smaller, covered stands, almost invisible from passer-by's perspective.

Innovative idea allows to fit 40,000 people inside this unique form and at the same time lower cost of both construction and cooling compared to stand-alone venues. MZ Architects of Lebanon have received Best Future Building award for this concept during 2012 LEAF Awards.
