Ibercaja Estadio – construction description

A temporary stadium for Real Zaragoza is being built in the northern part of Zaragoza, replacing the parking lots (Parking Norte de la Expo) located next to the Corona de Aragón athletics stadium. A consortium of companies composed of the local Grupo MLN and the NUSSLI Group from Switzerland is responsible for the construction.

The investment is related to the construction of a new stadium for Real Zaragoza to replace the old La Romareda – after its demolition, Real Zaragoza is expected to play in the temporary stadium for two seasons, 2025/26 and 2026/27 (the new La Romareda is expected to be ready in the summer of 2027).

Construction of the temporary stadium began in January 2025, with completion expected in July of the same year. The club is scheduled to move into the facility at the start of the 2025/26 season, and the first league match is expected to take place in August 2025.

The facility will be equipped with four modular metal stands on each side of the pitch, with a total capacity of 20,103 spectators. The main stand will be covered, and the stadium will also receive floodlights and two video screens.

The temporary stadium under construction was initially referred to as the Estadio Modular or Mini Romareda. On July 1, 2025, a sponsorship agreement was signed with Ibercaja bank, headquartered in Zaragoza, under which the facility will be named Ibercaja Estadio.
