Stade de Fès – construction description
At the end of 2023, a major reconstruction of Fez Stadium began, carried out in preparation for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2030 World Cup (the stadium is to host matches in both these tournaments).
As part of the reconstruction, the stadium is to lose its athletics track, and the stands will receive a football-specific layout. As a result of the intervention, the stadium's capacity will increase from 35,000 to 55,800 spectators. A new roof will be built over the auditorium, and the facility's design and details are to be reminiscent of Moroccan culture. An additional building will also be constructed just in front of the western stand.
The reconstruction is to be carried out in two phases. The first is to be completed in 2025, in order to prepare the facility for the Africa Cup of Nations. This tournament is to be followed by the second phase of the project, which is expected to last until 2028.
