Stade Moulay Abdellah – construction description
A major new football stadium is being built in Rabat, Morocco's capital, to replace the decommissioned Stade Moulay Abdellah. Construction began in the summer of 2023 with the demolition of the old stadium. The new facility should be ready in 2025 and will be one of the venues for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2030 World Cup. Along with the football stadium, a smaller athletics stadium will also be built adjacent to it.
The new Stade Moulay Abdellah is to be a football-specific stadium and will hold 68,700 spectators, making it one of the largest in the country. On a daily basis, AS FAR, one of the most successful football clubs in Morocco, will play its matches there.
