Estádio Mineirão – construction description
Due to its historical role the structure could not be dismantled and so authorities decided to redevelop it within existing concrete bowl. Upper tier of seating is preserved while lower one extended to be closer to the pitch. Existing roof is widened by steel trusses attached to the existing concrete ceiling. Redevelopment started in July 2010 and is to end in 2013.
