TD Place Stadium – construction description

TD Place Stadium already underwent a major redevelopment between 2012 and 2014, when a new south stand was built as part of the wider transformation of the Lansdowne Park. A decade later, the Lansdowne 2.0 vision was unveiled to complete the redevelopment with the construction of a new stand on the opposite, northern side of the stadium.

As the existing north stand, opened in 1967, is integrated with the adjacent arena, the project also includes the construction of a new arena to replace it. The new facility will be built in a different location, occupying the open space behind the eastern end of the playing field.

The new north stand will therefore be a standalone structure, no longer connected to the arena. Unlike the existing stand, it will also be built without a roof. Another key element of the project is the construction of two residential towers behind the new stand.

The redevelopment will be carried out in phases. The new arena will be built first (2026–2028), followed by the new north stand (2028–2030), while the two residential towers will be constructed in the final phase (2031–2034).

Preliminary works for the construction of the new arena began in December 2025. During the redevelopment, TD Place Stadium will remain operational, although the number of available seats will be temporarily reduced after the old north stand is taken out of use. Once the new stand opens, capacity is expected to return to around 24,000 seats.
