Nuevo Estadio Eladio Rosabal Cordero – construction description

The new stadium of CS Herediano, one of Costa Rica’s three biggest football clubs, is being built on the site of the old Estadio Eladio Rosabal Cordero, which served the team for more than seven decades. The new arena will offer a significantly higher standard and accommodate 12,000 spectators.

Construction work began with the demolition of the old stadium, which started on July 22, 2020. The stadium was demolished before the end of 2020, and construction of the new facility began simultaneously, with the cornerstone being laid on November 6, 2020.

Initially, the new stadium was expected to be completed in 2021, in time for the club’s centenary, although that deadline – like several that followed – was not met. Nevertheless, construction work has continued.
