Miami Freedom Park – construction description
Inter Miami's new stadium is being built on the site of the former Melreese Golf Course, right next to Miami International Airport. The site was acquired on a long-term lease from the city, and the investment was also preceded by a local referendum.
Construction work began in August 2023, and the stadium is expected to open in early 2026. The facility will be given a football-oriented form and will accommodate 25,000 spectators, with the stands covered by a flat roof made of lightweight membrane.
The entire project includes not only the construction of the stadium, but also 131 acres for development: stores, restaurants, hotels, office space and other attractions. A 58-acre public park is also to be part of the premise.
The development is expected to cost $1 billion, of which the stadium alone would cost $350 million. The project is being developed by private investors, including former soccer player David Beckham.
