Stadion Miejski w Bielsku-Białej – construction description

Built back in 1927, the stadium in Bielsko-Biała was waiting for its reconstruction since 2008. That’s when the winning concept by ATJ Architekci from Warsaw was released, envisaging a double-tiered stadium similar to Arena Kielc by the same designers.

Construction commencement took until August 2012 due to complicated procedures. First planning permission from 2011 was soon revoked after local residents filed a complaint. Their fears of excessive traffic and noise levels were addressed during consultations in 2012 and so the structure again received green light.

Tender gave the project to BPBP for a rather modest 81.8m zloty (€20m). First to be built wass the north stand, opened on October 5, 2013. South end is the next one to be delivered, while works on east stand have commenced in Autumn 2013.
