Coliseum Getafe – construction description
The construction of a modern home for Getafe CF, based near Madrid, has been a dream of club president Ángel Torres for many years. Although plans to build a completely new facility have not been realized, the team's current facility, the Coliseum, will undergo a thorough modernization.
Work began in June 2025 and is scheduled to be completed after 28 months, by the end of 2027. The project will be carried out in phases to allow the team to continue playing at their home ground and to ensure that the stadium's capacity does not fall below 10,000 seats.
The first phase involves the stand behind the southern goal and the southern section of the east stand. The upper tiers will be completely rebuilt, ultimately forming a continuous, enclosed ring around the entire arena.
The design also calls for full coverage of the seating areas and a striking new façade on the outside. The existing floodlight masts will be removed, and capacity will grow by 2,000 seats. The renovation will give the stadium a more unified, enclosed, and attractive appearance.
