Gradski stadion Dubočica – construction description
How did the construction of the new stadium in Leskovac come about?
Plans for the construction of a new stadium in Leskovac were made as early as 2018. The construction of the new stadium could have been made possible thanks to funding from the government's sports infrastructure improvement programme. The acceptance of the plan for implementation was announced in September 2019, during the visit to Leskovac of the Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić. Renderings of the new facility were also published at that time.
The tender for the construction was announced in October 2020, with the contractor selected in December of the same year. The implementation of the project was entrusted to a consortium of companies: GAT d.o.o., AB & CO d.o.o., PRO-ING d.o.o., Tehno inženjering, FMS Kvart d.o.o. Petrovac, Securiton d.o.o. Beograd, Enterijer Moša SRB d.o.o. Novi Sad, Premijus d.o.o., DHC Inženjering d.o.o. Novi Beograd and EX BC d.o.o. Beograd. The value of the contract is just under 2.5 billion Serbian dinars.
How did the construction of the new Dubočica stadium proceed?
The new facility was to be built on the site of the existing Gradski Stadion (the pitch will be slightly shifted towards the east). Demolition of the old stadium began in March 2021 and the actual construction started in August of the same year. Due to the works, GFK Dubočica footballers temporarily played their matches on pitches in the nearby villages of Mrštane and Vlasotinka.
