Estadio Nacional de El Salvador – construction description

The new National Stadium of El Salvador is being built with the support of the Chinese government. This modern, football-specific arena will have a capacity of 50,000 spectators and is expected to rank among the most advanced stadiums in Latin America.

The project stands out for its elegant, contemporary form, dominated by a striking dome surrounding the stands. Thanks to its distinctive silhouette, the stadium has the potential to become one of the architectural landmarks of the capital city’s metropolitan area.

The stadium is being constructed on the site of a former military school, which was demolished prior to the start of the project. The cornerstone was laid on November 30, 2023, although actual construction only began between 2024 and 2025. The stadium is expected to be completed in early 2027.
