Sportpark Ronhof – construction description

First phase of Sportpark Ronhof redevelopment covered by StadiumDB lasted not even three months (2012) and made the old 1997 temporary southern stand disappear and be replaced by much larger, covered structure.

Still erected mostly with prefabricated steel elements and covered with corrugated sheet, this one is much heavier with the roof alone weighing some 300 tons. But more important is the increased number of seats that are currently at 7,500 instead of previous 4,500.

In January 2016, preparations for the next stage of the redevelopment began. First, the old main stand from 1951 was demolished and a brand new one was built in its place, which was officially opened on July 26, 2017. Then the VIP pavilion standing next to it was demolished and a further part of the auditorium was built in its place, extending the new main stand towards the north. The work was completed in August 2018.
