When was Qianxian Cultural and Sports Center Stadium built?

Construction of the new sports complex in Qianxian began on April 10, 2023. The work was carried out by China Construction Eighth Engineering Bureau (Northwest Company), and the investment cost amounted to 596 million yuan.

The complex was completed in time for the 13th Xianyang Municipal Games, held from August 28 to September 5, 2025, with the facilities of the new Qianxian Cultural and Sports Center serving as the main venues for the event.

On August 28, 2025, the opening ceremony of the games took place at the stadium of the new complex — it was the first event ever held at the facility.

Where is Qianxian Cultural and Sports Center located?

Qianxian Cultural and Sports Center is situated in the southeastern part of Qianxian, about 4 km from the town center, adjacent to the railway station opened in 2015, which, after the completion of the high-speed line between Xi’an and Yinchuan in 2020, also serves high-speed trains.

Administratively, Qianxian is part of the city of Xianyang (a prefecture-level city). In practice, however, it is a separate settlement located approximately 45 km northwest of Xianyang. The main regional center, Xi’an, is about 70 km away from Qianxian.

What does Qianxian Cultural and Sports Center include?

Qianxian Cultural and Sports Center consists of the main stadium with a capacity of over 20,000 spectators, a sports hall with seating for 3,080 people (including 1,472 fixed seats), and a swimming pool with a 1,510-seat audience.

The design is inspired by traditional Han and Tang architecture, combined with a modern style, which is particularly evident in the form of the sports hall and swimming pool. The main arenas are surrounded by small sports fields and a carefully planned layout of roads, pathways, and greenery. At night, the facilities can be attractively illuminated.

What does Qianxian Cultural and Sports Center Stadium look like?

The main stadium of the complex is equipped with an athletics track and accommodates 20,105 spectators. The stands are divided into four segments: two larger stands along the sides of the field and two on the curves. Access to the stands is provided via an elevated platform.

A white membrane roof covers a significant portion of the seating area. The longer sides of the roof are supported externally by distinctive V-shaped columns.
