Where is AT&T Stadium, the stadium for Copa América 2024, located?
AT&T Stadium, the venue for Copa América 2024, is located in Arlington, Texas. It is a state-of-the-art stadium with a retractable roof and is the home of the NFL's Dallas Cowboys team. Arlington, Texas, is a booming city located between Dallas and Fort Worth, known mainly for attractions such as Six Flags Over Texas and Globe Life Field, the stadium of the Texas Rangers team.
What does the Copa América 2024 stadium in Arlington look like?
AT&T Stadium has a retractable roof and can accommodate up to 100,000 spectators thanks to additional standing room. Two sets of huge glass gates behind the ends of the pitch are also openable. The facility features impressive arches almost 300 feet high and one of the largest HDTV screens in the world. The design adopted for the development is unique and has no equivalent in the world. The facility can be considered an outstanding example of modern architecture and one of the most interesting stadiums in terms of design in the world.
What is the story behind AT&T Stadium, the Copa América 2024 stadium?
The new facility was decided to be built near the stadium of the Texas Rangers baseball team. As there was a lack of available space, the site for the construction was designated in an area occupied by apartment blocks and more than 100 houses. The city initiated expropriation procedures that led to the displacement of almost 1,200 residents. AT&T Stadium opened on May 27, 2009 at a cost of $1.15 billion. Originally called Cowboys Stadium, it was renamed AT&T Stadium in 2013 after AT&T purchased the naming rights.
