The course of the Copa América 2019
In Brazil the title was defended by the Chilean national team, the triumpher of the previous two editions of the Copa América, but the march to a third championship was stopped in the semifinals by the Peru, which defeated Chile 3–0 and advanced to the final at the Maracanã. The second finalist was the host team, which had yet to lose a goal in the tournament prior to this game.
The grand final, as expected, was won by the Canarinhos (3–1), triumphing in the Copa América for the 9th time in history. The bronze medals went to Argentina, which defeated Chile 2–1 in the 3rd place match.
