Phoenix Rising FC Stadium – stadium description
Where is Phoenix Rising FC Stadium located?
East Washington Street is now... the third location of the same stadium. To be precise, in 2017 Phoenix Rising FC inaugurated their first stadium of their own, which stood in Tampa, in the Phoenix metropolitan area. The venue was built in less than two months.
Because of its modular design, it was relatively easy to relocate, which was done before the start of the 2021 season, when the Rising moved more than 15 miles south to Wild Horse Pass, on the outskirts of the metropolitan area. The stadium was slightly expanded, increasing the capacity from 6,200 to 10,000 spectators.
After playing two seasons, the decision was made to relocate again. In early 2023, the Rising returned 15 miles north, albeit closer to downtown Phoenix – the stadium took the place of a car park located next to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. This time, the stadium structure remained virtually the same.
What has Phoenix Rising FC managed to achieve by playing in their own stadium?
The frequent relocations do not seem to have had a negative impact on the team – on the contrary, in the 2023 season, played within the city limits of Phoenix for the first time, Rising FC achieved their most successful season since the club's inception (2014), winning the USL Championship (the second most important football competition in the USA, just after the MLS).
What does Phoenix Rising FC Stadium look like?
Phoenix Rising FC Stadium is, by design, a temporary facility. Its construction consists of metal, modular stands. The auditorium is low and without a canopy. The stands along the pitch are equipped with folding seats, while those behind the goals have benches. The capacity of the stands is 10,000 spectators.
A video screen has been erected in the south stand, intended for the most enthusiastic supporters. Floodlight masts have also been placed all around. The stadium is located in the immediate vicinity of a major airport, and behind the south stand you can watch planes and the air traffic control tower.
