Underhill Stadium – historical stadium description

The stadium opened in September 1907, and underwent significant modernization in the 1990s, when the famous West Bank stand, occupied by standing, cheering fans, was demolished in a wave of change. Apart from these works, the stadium underwent only incremental renovations and hence as many as seven stands instead of the classic layout with four.

Throughout England, Barnet FC's stadium was known for its sloping pitch, lowering to the south. In 1952, a match between two amateur teams was watched here by more than 11,000 people.

In 2007, the stadium's centennial was celebrated – this summer, in a preseason match, the hosts faced Crystal Palace, the same team they had played their opening match against a century earlier. This time, Crystal Palace came out on top (3–2), as they 'took revenge' for their 1907 defeat (0–1).

In 2013 Barnet FC moved to the new The Hive Stadium. In the last match at the old stadium, the hosts defeated Wycombe Wanderers 1–0, and the victory was saved in added time by goalkeeper Graham Stack, successfully defending a shot from a penalty kick.

In 2015, the old Underhill Stadium was sold by the club. In 2018, the facility was demolished and Ark Pioneer Academy secondary school was built in its place.
