Stadion Rakowa – stadium description

It is located in the Raków district, south-east of the city centre. The facility replaced the old stadium that had stood on the same site since 1955 and underwent a series of ad hoc renovations over the years.

The need for a thorough reconstruction coincided with the promotion of the team to Ekstraklasa in the 2018/19 season. The pressure of the local football community accelerated the decision of the city officials to create a stadium in Częstochowa adapted to the requirements of the highest league.

In July 2019, a tender was announced for the construction of the ground, but none of the offers fell within the planned budget. This forced the announcement of another tender in January 2020. This time, a general contractor was successfully selected. Unfortunately, due to numerous appeals and the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, the agreement with the contractor was officially signed only on July 21, 2020.

On July 24, 2020, InterHall (general contractor) began demolition works at the old stadium, committing itself to build a new facility in 8 months. Unfortunately, this did not happen, and only in August 2021, three stands were approved for use. The fourth one (the visitors stand) was opened in February 2022. However, after it was put into use, the stand was far from the acceptable standards, so it was decided to rebuild it.

The first match was held after 9 months of construction works, on April 23, 2021 to be exact. Only the west stand was ready back then. On that day, the Polish Football Federation conditionally allowed to play a game against Śląsk Wrocław.

The stadium has four single-tier modular stands that are not connected to each other. The west stand (along the pitch) is roofed and provides 1056 seats. The east stand with around 3,000 seats is not covered, as is the visitors section (300 seats) behind the north goal. The facility is concluded by a stand with 1,200 seats, located on the south side.

In total, there are about 5,500 seats in the auditorium. The back-up facilities of the stadium are located in a separate building at some distance from the rear of the stands. Four lighting masts are placed in the corners.
