Description: Stade Océane
Blue seats inside, blue polycarbonate foil covering its façades, blue light inside as sun comes inside through the translucent cladding and outside – when lit from inside at night. This was the idea of renowned architecture practices SCAU (France) and KSS (England) who are behind France's latest football venue.
The stadium was thought to cost some €90m initially, but despite lack of delays in construction phase budget stands at €101 as the process is over.
Euro 2025: Race to host the women’s tournament heats up
Four bids are currently in the competition to become the women's Euro 2025 host. Looking at the whole process, at least one trend seems to be emerging: joined bids. Similarly to the competitions to host men’s Euro 2028 or World Cup 2030, that are shaping up, potential organisers are eager to welcome big tournaments but also look for ways to keep the costs down by joining forces.
France: Fire impedes demolition of Le Havre stadium
Just when the new stadium is celebrating its 5th anniversary in operation, the old one was struck by severe fire during demolition. The situation is now under control.
Stadium of the Year Nominee: Stade Océane
The great blue – this is how we’d describe it. Clear identity, clear form, something to plunge into with pleasure. And, of course, well deserved name for a dockyard stadium…
