King Khalid University Stadium – stadium description

The stadium was built in conjunction with the entire Al-Fara'a University City – the new, large campus of King Khalid University – and was completed in 2020. The campus is located about 30 kilometers southeast of Abha.

The facility has an athletics track and stands capable of holding 22,000 spectators. The stands are divided into four segments – two on the curves and two along the pitch. The main stand in the west is covered, and four lighting masts stand in the corners.

The stadium is the main component of the university's sports complex. Next to it is also a building with a sports hall and an indoor swimming pool, in addition to small playing fields, tennis courts and a large number of parking lots.

The facility is to be one of the venues for the 2034 World Cup. On this occasion, a major reconstruction of the relatively new stadium is planned between 2030 and 2032: a new main stand is to be built on the west, and temporary structures will stand on the other sides, together with which the stadium will accommodate more than 45,000 spectators.
