Městský stadion – stadium description

The municipal stadium in Karvina is the outcome of a complete reconstruction of the previous ground, carried out in 2014-2016. Only the bare concrete structure of western main grandstand was left of the previous ground, expanded largely and reconfigured. Additional front rows, media and VIP facilities and a vast pavilion behind the stand were added.

Initial plans from 2009-2011 suggested building unified and large stands on all other sides, but eventually a much less impressive version was approved for delivery, with compact, steel stands of just several rows.

The project consumed app. CZK 300 million ($12.4 million), of which the European Union donated 80 million, the federal budget added further 110 million and the city covered the remainder.
