The new stadium for FC Barcelona, which is definitively scheduled to be completed only by June 2026, is set to once again host matches starting in November of this year. However, there are people who do not want to wait that long.

Under watchful eye of president

One of the impatient fans is 3D designer Eduardo Barei, who has published on his YouTube channel a vision of what the completed stadium will look like. Barei showcases an aerial view of the new Camp Nou and proposes interactive and dynamic lighting for the roof, featuring the distinctive colors of FC Barcelona.

Club president Joan Laporta is a frequent visitor to the construction site and consistently emphasizes that all work is proceeding according to schedule, with no risk to the planned opening of the facility.

He also announced that the new seats will be more comfortable than the previous ones. These will be foldable seats, slightly wider than the current ones. Additionally, the stadium will feature two rings of VIP boxes or seating areas, tripling the amenities offered by the old Camp Nou. Furthermore, the stadium will have a roof covering 104,600 seats. This is a response to fans' demands for a roof that has persisted for years.

Unpleasant changes for fans

Viewers will have more amenities, but the current management plans a significant increase in seasonal ticket prices. Unlike the Bernabéu, the new Camp Nou will not have a retractable pitch or roof. However, the club expects to earn €340 million annually from operating its stadium.

Barcelona's season tickets are much cheaper than tickets for matches of Real Madrid and other major European clubs such as Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, or PSG. Laporta's planned increase may therefore be somewhat surprising, but Barcelona's leader wants the rates to remain lower than those of his competitors. Barça has 140,000 socios and around 80,000 season ticket holders, a number significantly lower than the planned capacity of the new Camp Nou. It is these groups that will likely bear the brunt of the price increase, which is sure to be heavily criticized. However, the details of this increase are currently shrouded in secrecy.

New sponsor for new stadium

In recent days, FC Barcelona and TK Elevator have signed a sponsorship agreement under which the leading company in advanced and sustainable mobility solutions becomes a partner of the new facility for the next five seasons, until June 30, 2029. Both entities will collaborate on the installation and maintenance of 69 state-of-the-art elevators and 78 escalators in the stadium. This investment aims to provide an unprecedented mobility experience for fans visiting the venue.

This agreement is a significant step in the Espai Barça project, which aims to renew and expand FC Barcelona's facilities, including the iconic Spotify Camp Nou, transforming it into the best sports complex in the heart of a major city. As part of this collaboration, integrating TK Elevator's mobile solutions into the Espai Barça project will not only improve accessibility and movement within the complex but will also set new standards in integrating sustainable and efficient technologies into the world of sports.
