Madrid: Atletico’s stadium with a new sponsor! The 5-year partnership between the club from the Spanish capital and Chinese property development giant Wanda Group has just come to an end. Civitas has become Atletico's new partner, gaining the naming rights to their stadium for 10 years. In addition, the new sponsor is going to build a new sports complex for 'Los Indios'.

On July 19, the Atletico authorities announced the start of their partnership with Civitas. It is a multi-faceted company, involved in construction and real estate, among other things, originating from Extremadura. The agreement involves the company acquiring the naming rights to the stadium, which will be called Cívitas Metropolitano for the next 10 years. This brings to an end an era for Atletico supporters, who used to call their home ground simply 'Wanda'.

"El Atleti" is already the second club from Spain's elite to change the name of its stadium this summer. In addition to Atletico, a new sponsor has been acquired by Barcelona, whose legendary venue is now officially called Spotify Camp Nou (which we wrote about here). The streaming giant has inked a record-breaking four-year deal with the Blaugrana, which is sure to help the Catalans to come out of their financial crisis. We did not have to wait long for its effects, as Robert Lewandowski has just become Barca's new footballer.

This is not the end of the good news for Atletico fans. In addition to securing a stable sponsor for the long term (the value of the contract was not made public), it was also announced that Civitas will be the one to build the Madrid team a new training centre. It will be located around the Metropolitano. It will include a smaller stadium with a capacity of 6,000 spectators, equipped with an athletics track. The B team will play their matches there.

In addition, there will be six football pitches where Atletico's first team, the club's reserves and the two oldest age groups of the academy will train. There will be a climbing wall, a space to learn and practice surfing with an artificial wave and 25 padel courts throughout the centre.

"Los Colchoneros" have also secured a new main sponsor. This has become Amber Group, one of the global leaders in the field of financial asset management. The logo of the WhaleFin.com platform began to appear on the players' match uniforms. The deal has been signed for five years.
