Thái Nguyên Stadium – stadium description
The construction of the new stadium in Thái Nguyên (about 70 km north of Hanoi) began at the end of 2022. The project cost 535 billion đồng and was funded by the government. The arena was designed by the DCCD office.
A modest opening ceremony took place on 19 December 2025, on National Resistance Day.
Between 21 and 27 December 2025, the stadium held its first sporting event – a friendly football tournament featuring four teams from V.League 1. The inauguration of this event had a far more elaborate setting than the stadium opening itself, including fireworks, light displays, and artistic performances.
The stadium is located about 10 km west of the city center, in Phúc Trìu commune. Its construction is part of a long-term program for the development and urbanization of Thái Nguyên’s western suburbs.
The new facility replaced the old stadium in central Thái Nguyên, which was demolished to make way for a building housing offices and institutions related to provincial administration.
The arena is equipped with an athletics track and can accommodate 22,000 spectators. The stands surround the track on all sides, but those along the pitch are significantly taller, featuring a second tier, a roof, and a decorative facade.
