Energy Check Stadium – stadium description
Among the Glasgow stadium this one is one of the less known even despite record attendances of 50,000 both at national and international occasions. This was however in times, when Ibrox or Hampden could take even three times more. Over the years four clubs have played here and two of them remain today, the Partick Thistle and Glasgow Warriors (rugby).
In 2009 it celebrated its centenary although none of the existing stands remember those days as the oldest currently (main stand) dates back to 1927. Ironically, it is used very rarely as maintenance and stewarding costs are very high.
All home support is generally located in the opposite East stand that can accommodate over 6,000 people and is very modern, having been erected in 1994. Later, in 2002 a new North stand was also built, this time to accommodate away fans and exceed the SPL minimum capacity of 10,000 seats. Terracing on the South is not used any more with plans of a new stand there awaiting implementation.
