Broadwood Stadium – stadium description
New stadium in Cumbernauld (10 miles outsider Glasgow) was built in 1994. Designed by Walker Group the venue cost app. Ł8mln and was regarded to be very modern when opened. Attracted a full house instantly which sounds impressive when keeping in mind that Clyde FC are a 4th league club. They are new in this location, having played in various grounds around Glasgow for over a century. Their relocation to Cumbernauld was the first such move in Scotland and was then followed by various other clubs.
When opened it had only two stands and could take up to 6,000 people. Third one was erected in 1997 and plans to complete the ground with a fourth were scrapped in 2004, when the club failed to win promotion to top tier. The place has been known for many U21 games, matches of Rangers reserve squad and four finals of the Challenge Cup. Future seems uncertain as Clyde are looking to relocate once again.
The ground is the highest located one in Sctoland with land height at 127 m AMSL.
