Spain: Historic year for FC Barcelona – on the pitch and in finances The 2024/25 season was exceptional for FC Barcelona in every aspect. Under the guidance of Hansi Flick, the team claimed a domestic treble. Even more impressively, they achieved this feat while playing their second consecutive season “away from home” due to the ongoing renovation of Camp Nou.

Record attendance and revenue at Montjuïc

However, sporting success was only part of the story. The club also reported record-breaking financial results, demonstrating that the temporary stadium was not a setback but rather an opportunity for rapid growth. FC Barcelona announced that operational revenues for the 2024/25 season were 57% higher than the previous year, despite selling 13% fewer tickets — thanks to a significant rise in the number of season ticket holders. The average revenue per match at Montjuïc reached €2.8 million, a 22% increase, while the average attendance rose to 45,962 spectators, up 14% year-on-year.

A major contributor to these results was the dynamic pricing strategy, which led to a 39% increase in the average ticket price. Despite the higher prices, attendance improved and the sales efficiency reached 88%, up 13% from the prior season. The club’s marketing strategy included premium pre-sales, international campaigns featuring stars, targeted offers, and capacity optimization. A significant 56% of the audience consisted of season ticket holders, club members, or their guests.

El Clásico – the match of the season and an all-time record

The season’s highlight came in the clash against Real Madrid, which all but sealed the league title. This match entered history not just for its sporting value but also for its financial magnitude. Total revenue reached €13.85 million — 69% more than the previous record for a match with season ticket holders (El Clásico 2022/23) and 37% more than the record for a match without subscriptions (Supercopa 2017).

The average ticket price for the game hit €554 (excluding VAT) — 76% higher than the previous record. The VIP zone alone generated €4.25 million, with Premium VIP tickets averaging €3,370 each.

Investments in Montjuïc and future prospects

To adapt the Estadi Olímpic to the needs of FC Barcelona, the club invested €24 million — €20 million in construction and €4 million in transportation and sustainable mobility systems. Barça’s board emphasized that the results achieved at Montjuïc exceeded all expectations and that the return to the renovated Spotify Camp Nou will only accelerate this growth. The 2024/25 season will go down as one of the best in the club’s history — not just in terms of sport, but also economically.
