Historic milestone for club

Luton Town Football Club confirmed that construction of Power Court Stadium will begin this summer. The new stadium, with a planned capacity of 25,000 seats, is expected to be ready for the 2028/29 season. It will be the club’s first new stadium in over a century.

The project will be led by Limak International – a rapidly growing global contractor based in Turkey, renowned for its work on the renovation of iconic Spotify Camp Nou in Barcelona. Limak brings a wealth of experience in large-scale infrastructure projects, ranging from stadiums and airports to major urban developments in Saudi Arabia and Dubai. The agreement between Limak and Luton Town’s development arm, 2020 Developments, covers pre-construction services and follows a rigorous tender process involving several major firms.

Ambitious vision, solid foundations

The new stadium is a crucial step in Luton Town's long-term strategy. As chief executive Gary Sweet explained, the project aligns with the club’s ambition to re-establish itself in the Premier League and create a foundation for sustainable sporting and organizational success.

This is a transformative opportunity for the Club, helping us realise our ambitions to be a Premier League club again one day. We are united with the supporters on the need for a new stadium to move our Luton Town forward and we are delighted to be moving into this exciting construction phase said Sweet. He also emphasized the local character of the development, designed to meet the needs of the community and deliver real benefits to residents.

As strategic partner, Limak International is expected to deliver world-class quality while also ensuring the stadium becomes one of the most environmentally sustainable venues of its kind in the UK.

Following a competitive tender process, we're delighted to enter this first phase of the new Power Court development. Limak will offer its technical expertise and international experience to guide the project’s early stages and prepare the recruitment of a best-in-class team of trade contractors. We’re incredibly excited to work with the Club and its partners to bring its ambitious and impressive vision to life said Gokalp Kahraman, Limak’s regional director for UK and Western Europe.

Catalyst for all of Luton

The stadium is part of a broader regeneration effort in central Luton. The ten-year redevelopment plan surrounding Power Court includes new housing, a hotel, commercial facilities, and public spaces. The project is expected to generate significant employment – both during construction and in the long term – with over 1,000 permanent jobs projected.

Hazel Simmons, leader of Luton Borough Council, expressed her enthusiasm: The start of construction at Power Court is a significant milestone for our Club and our town. This development is about much more than football — it will unlock long-term regeneration, bring jobs, homes, and vitality back to the centre of Luton. We are proud to support Luton Town in making this vision a reality and are delighted Limak has been chosen to partner with the Club at this time.

Accessibility is another key focus. Allan Drummond from Luton Town Disabled Supporters’ Association welcomed the move toward a stadium designed with inclusivity in mind: This major step forward brings us closer to a stadium designed with accessibility at its heart. For disabled supporters, this means the promise of modern, inclusive facilities, improved access routes, and an environment where every fan can experience football with dignity and ease.

The project has also received political backing. MP Rachel Hopkins voiced her full support: I’m delighted to see this landmark project moving forward and that a contractor has been selected. Luton Town Football Club is an essential part of our community’s identity, and the new stadium at Power Court represents both pride in our heritage and hope for our future. We welcome Limak International to Luton and will be delighted to assist wherever we can. It’s a win for our Club, our town, and all of its communities.
