Stadium Likas – stadium description

Located almost at the heart of Kota Kinabalu (capital of the Sabah Province), this stadium initially had only 200 capacity, but was completely rebuilt in 2001, ahead of the half-a-million-city hosting the 2002 Malaysian Games.

With capacity set at 35,000 people (although only 20,000 in all-seater mode), the ground is largest throughout Sabah and among Malaysia’s more significant venues. Weekly use is provided by largest club locally, Sabah FA. Apart from football also rugby and athletic events are held here.

The name Likas comes from the district it’s located in, between the sea and business district.
