Italy: Will Como play at their stadium as planned? Doubts emerge The process of completing the work and obtaining the green light is progressing, and the municipality and club are making every effort to ensure the team returns to Stadio Sinigaglia as soon as possible. Less than a month remains before Como's home debut in Serie A, scheduled for September 15.

Doing everything they can

However, there is still no certainty that they will be able to return to Stadio Sinigaglia by the set date. The risk remains that the Azzurri may have to play one or more games at Bentegodi Stadium in Verona. I can’t wait to watch the games from my spot in the corner of Sinigaglia stadium, but I won’t say anything until there’s certainty about the date of the first home game, says Como's mayor, Alessandro Rapinese. The municipality has done everything it should, and the club is continuing the work. There is trust, but I will hold off on further comments until we have definitive news.

Stadium vs. seaplanes

Another meeting of the regional oversight commission is already scheduled for early September, which could provide an opportunity to gain a full understanding of the situation and obtain the desired green light for Sinigaglia’s use in Serie A matches. In the meantime, according to an announcement by Prefect Andrea Polichetti, the long-standing issue of the stadium coexisting with seaplanes has been positively resolved. ENAC, the national civil aviation authority, has approved a new takeoff and landing trajectory for the seaplanes to prevent them from flying over Sinigaglia’s floodlight towers. The eternal problem, which began more than 30 years ago, has been resolved, Polichetti explained. In January of last year, work was undertaken to lower the lighting masts and reduce interference with the seaplanes, but the issue was not fully resolved.

Among the topics to be discussed at the oversight meeting is the placement of video surveillance cameras to monitor both the stadium and surrounding streets. A green light for the new stadium capacity, which must be 10,584 seats to meet Serie A promotion requirements, is also necessary.
