Competition decided

The first prize went to the team from the studio Bujnowski Architekci Sp. z o.o. and "ATJ ARCHITEKCI" Sp. z o.o. from Warsaw. The competition was a two-stage process - 10 concepts were submitted in the first stage, and the jury selected five proposals for the second stage. It then awarded the first, second and third places with prizes, and another with honorable mentions. The winners will now be invited to negotiate a design that depicts a modern athletics stadium that meets the requirements of the second category of the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) classification.

It has been our battle for many years to get this stadium back, to be able to renovate it and return it to Varsovians as a sports complex. Our city needs modern sports infrastructure - an athletics stadium and an arena that will be a home for Warsaw sports, serving the capital's basketball and volleyball teams. We will also make sure that this sports complex will be as green as possible. - said the Warsaw mayor.

The original look of the arena

Moreover, this is what Rafal Trzaskowski wrote about the new project on Twitter: This is what the new arena will look like. An athletics stadium for nearly 25 thousand fans, which will allow the organization of championship level competitions. A sports hall for 6,000 people for the capital's basketball and volleyball teams performing in the top competition classes. And plenty of recreational and sports area available to all Warsaw residents.

The stadium will have covered stands, and 22 sectors can accommodate more than 25,000 fans. The modernization will enable the organization of championship-level athletics events. The new structure will follow the shape of the existing stadium - it will resemble an elongated horseshoe, which opens onto Mokotów Field nearby. The roof of the facility will be covered by 100 photovoltaic panels.

The sports hall will be built on the site of an outdoor swimming pool complex. It will also be able to host concerts and similar events there. The height of the building will not exceed 12 meters, while the roof will be green in color. A multifunctional field is also planned underground. The facility will have complete sports facilities with locker rooms, a gym, a canteen with kitchen facilities, rooms for doctors, physiotherapists, team staff, referees.
