Signal Iduna Park (Westfalenstadion) was the sight of Borussia’s chase after Bayern tonight, as the team won 2:0 against 1. FSV Mainz. But the victory was spoiled by tragedy in the stands, specifically in the famous Sűdtribune. One of the supporters there suffered from heart attack and rescue efforts proved futile.

Later into the game another case of heart attack was reported, this time the supporter was taken to hospital. Despite early reports of his condition being critical, it now seems he’s stable.

Having been notified by the public address system of what had occurred, supporters of Borussia seized their regular chanting and remained silent until the end of the game. During the last minutes they only sang “You’ll never walk alone”, perhaps the most well-known anthem to football solidarity.
