AC Milan welcomed the decision with enthusiasm as the Fiera Milano Foundation announced their stadium bid among three final bidders yesterday. The decision comes after initial evaluation of all bids submitted to redevelop the Portello fairgrounds.

Rossoneri statement reads: “AC Milan is pleased with the attention that has been given to its project by the Fondazione Fiera and takes the chance to reiterate its willingness to all of the Fondazione Fiera’s further enquiries before it communicates its final decision, because Milan is convinced in the quality and the uniqueness of its bid and the importance that it represents for the city of Milan.”

The foundation stated in its announcement that AC Milan’s bid to build a new 48,000-capacity stadium over fairgrounds is one promising the best commercial potential. At the same time, however, incorporating the stadium into constrained land seems to be a major challenge that needs to be analysed further.

Two other bidders will also be looked into as Prelios SpA and a joint venture of Vitali SpA with STAM Europe S.A. were selected. Their bids will be evaluated primarily to establish long-term economic sustainability. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the final evaluation may take up to 6 weeks.
